"Now these are the numbers of the divisions equipped for war, who came to David at Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.... Of the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do, their chiefs {were} two hundred; and all their kinsmen {were} at their command." I Chronicles 12,23,32
This brief passage in 1 Chronicles points out two, three, even four important characteristics of the Sons of Issachar.
First, they were clear about their purpose. They wanted to turn the kingdom of Saul over to David
Second, they understood the times.
Third, they knew what Israel should do
Fourth, they were men of influence "with all their kinsmen at their command":
How might these observations apply to ministry?
